If you have been around my blog for a while, you may assume that I have a love for sweet and savory recipes. Coming from a Moroccan background, sweet and savory dishes are very common in our culture. Needless to say, the combination of sweet and savory flavors inspired me a lot in the way I cook my food. This healthy Turkey breast fillets recipe taste amazingly delicious! with a rich, flavourful marinade sauce!
If you are looking for a way to up your protein intake then there is no better way than caramelized, sweet and savory turkey breast filets! This recipe is super easy to make, meal prep friendly, healthy, and of course, delicious!
Now that we are in quarantine, which means I have more time to cook and experiment with different recipes. I have been playing with sweet & savory flavours for a while and this marinade sauce worked perfectly fine for both turkey and chicken breast.
I usually make this dish for dinner and peer it with some roasted or stir fry veggies. When I’m having it for lunch, grains and beans are my go to sides. That’s one thing I love about this recipe as it’s modifiable and you can choose whatever side dish you desire to peer it with!
Tips & Tricks
Cooking time may depend on the length of your turkey breast filets. For this recipe I used moderately thin filets, therefore it didn’t take me longer to cook. If your filets are not as thin, they may take longer. Make sure to watch out for the turkey filets when cooking. Flip on the sides every 3 or 4 minutes to prevent burning them. We want our turkey breast filets to be well cooked, tender from the inside and caramelized on the outside!
Meal Prep Tips
You can choose whatever side you like if you decided to meal prep . For me, I sided my fillets with some boiled peas and barley grits. You can go with rice, roasted veggies, quinoa, beans…whatever your tummy desires for real!
You can store this in large containers for family portions or small containers for single servings. You can keep cooked turkey filets in the fridge for four days maximum. If you wish to store for a long duration, you can freeze it for up to two months.
Caramelized Turkey Breast Fillets ( Meal Prep Option )
500 grams of Turkey breast filets (preferably thin)
1 small red onion (shredded)
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon full of raw organic honey
2 tablespoons of freshly chopped cilantro
2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley
Toasted sesame and flaxseeds
1 tablespoon of sesame oil or avocado oil.
- Spices (half teaspoon each)
- Meal Prep Sides (optional)
Barley Grits (boiled)
- Prepare the Marinade Sauce
- In a medium bowl add shredded onion, lemon juice, olive oil, honey, cilantro and parsley, spices and salt.
- Mix everything well and soak the fillets in the marinade sauce.
- Marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat a large non stick pan for 2 minutes and add 1 tbsp of sesame oil or avocado oil.
- After the pan is well heated, place the fillets on the pan and pour the rest of marinade sauce on the pan.
- Cook on both sides and flip the fillets every 3 to 4 minutes to avoid burning them.
- Cook until the filites are tender and well caramelized.
- Serve on a plate and sprinkle some toasted sesame and flaxseeds / or store for later.
